Peebles District Volunteer Fire Company prides itself on being very involved in the community. Throughout the year, we participate in a wide variety of events and functions.

McCandless Community Day
Every September, The Town of McCandless holds a weekend-long festival featuring rides, games, music, food, fireworks, and a parade through the town. You can find us training the smallest firefighters in the town at our mini fire academy, on the parade route, at our recruitment/information booth, and monitoring the fireworks display!

Peebles Open House
Every year we have one or two Open House events where we invite the community to visit our station for a tour, meet the men, women who volunteer their time to provide fire, rescue and medical services to McCandless.
Peebles and Hosack Elementary Field Days
Every June, we participate in both Peebles Elementary and Hosack Elementary's Field Days. These days provide a great opportunity for us to teach fire safety in the elementary schools and have some fun with the kids. Playing firefighter games involving water with the kids is a great way for them to cool off!!

Toys for Tot's, Three Company Toy Drive
SEach November the three McCandless fire company works together to collect new and unwrapped toys for the month of November at the Pine Creek Shopping Plaza net to Target. Or, if it's more convenient stop by any of the three stations at Highland, Ingomar and/or Peebles.

Santa's Tour Through McCandless
Santa got a major upgrade to his sleigh in December of 2023. 2017 was our first year doing this program and it went very well. We received a lot of positive feedback from the community. Please check our Facebook page to find out when and where Santa will be visiting in December!

School Visits
Throughout the year, we visit many schools, preschools, and day care centers to educate our youngest community members about fire safety and what we do as the fire department. We are more than happy to host your class or at our station or we can come to you!

Parades
During the warmer months we participate in many parades in neighboring townships. This allows us to show off our apparatus and have positive community contacts with other fire departments and community members.

When we are not fighting fires, prying patients out of cars, doing water rescues, or running medical calls we may do any of the following: Tx Road House rib eating contests amongst the 3 McCandless Fire Departments & Police Department, playing Flag Football before Thanksgiving, picnic in Honor of a fellow firefighter, Deck Hockey in Full Gear, Slatter Ball in the FireBay....
