QRS (Quick response service)
In 2023 alone, Peebles District VFC QRS responded to nearly 500 medical emergencies and over 800 fire dispatches.
Peebles District VFC is certified as an Intermediate Advanced Life Support Squad Service (iALS Squad) by the State Health Department. Sixteen members are certified to run QRS, including five paramedics, 10 EMTs, and one physician.
An iALS Squad is a non-transporting level of EMS. EMS providers are licensed to function at or below the AEMT level. Our squad is equipped to rendezvous with an ambulance crew or to respond before the arrival of an ambulance to provide lifesaving medical assessment, monitoring, treatment, and observation of a patient.
PDVFC has scholarship and reimbursement opportunities available for initial EMS certification. If utilized, our agency requires a commitment to stay with the agency for a minimum of a year after completing an accredited program and obtaining licensure.
Several institutions in the Pittsburgh region offer EMS certification courses, including CCAC and the Center for Emergency Medicine. (add a hyperlink to each institution)
